Annual Winter Coat Drive

Winters in the NYC area are always a challenge due to unpredictable and usually harsh weather, and so many of the people we serve lack enough warm clothing to stay protected throughout winter and lack the money to buy that clothing.

This time of year, the clients of St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters rely on us for even more assistance. Knowing they have a warm coat and an extra layer of clothing to see them through the winter can bring at least a little peace of mind to people in need.

If you’re anything like most people, you probably have closets or boxes in the attic full of coats and jackets you or your own children have outgrown. And children’s outerwear is always needed and appreciated, because kids are always growing…and that means growing out of their clothing.

This is where our corporate partners and longtime supporters come in. Some have been hosting annual coat drives with St. Francis for almost 20 years, collecting and distributing tens of thousands of coats, scarves and winter accessories to our many clients and their families.
