On Saturday, January 27, 2018, St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters sponsored our "Annual Dinner for the Needy" held at St. John's Church, near Penn Station in Manhattan.

Some of our guests for the day were homeless, and some were simply folks in need of a helping hand. Volunteers waited on hundreds of these special guests, serving them a delicious, hearty, "restaurant style" meal at numbered tables.

In addition to getting people out of the bone-chilling January weather and into a warm place where they were safe, dry and well-fed, this event gives our guests an opportunity for a little community, as well as to choose a coat from donations and receive other winter weather gear to brave the frigid temps the rest of the winter.

Thank you to those who volunteered to help hundreds of people in need. We are sending a special thank you shout out to June Tang-How and Ingrid Gerber who coordinated this annual effort.

Volunteers make last minute preparations before the crowd is let in. The food displays wrapped around the room to feed all the guests.

Food options included plenty of greens for a Winter meal. As well as fruit flown in from...somewhere warm!
