As part of Macy’s 21st Annual Bag Hunger Campaign, a couple dozen employees from various Macy’s departments volunteered to help make wonderful Easer Baskets that were then distributed to the Lorraine Hansberry Academy in the West Farms, Bronx and the Carter Burden Senior Center in East Harlem, Manhattan.
The laden baskets contained typical Easter dinner items: ham, mashed potatoes, mac 'n' cheese, yams, gravy, corn, sweet peas, marshmallows, etc. Macy's also provided plastic Easter eggs filled with candy. Also, something new this year: St. Francis Theatre Committee member Jim Donaghy of StructureTone introduced us to Mindy Mosca, the founder and CEO of
Mindy's Munchies – who donated some of her delicious chocolates for the baskets. Needless to say, they were a big hit!
In addition to the needy senior citizens at the Carter Burden Senior Center, the baskets were distributed to Lorraine Hansberry Academy students that live in shelters, foster kids, and low-income families.
