Safety Measures At Our Food Pantries
Despite the struggles currently facing most families and businesses, the need is still growing every day for poor New Yorkers to obtain food and personal hygiene items from food pantries like those in the St. Francis network.
Even with stretched budgets, given the cancellation of some of our biggest seasonal fundraising events, we continue to distribute food to our network of pantries. During these very difficult times, each location understands both the need AND the challenges, so they distribute the food the way that serves their clientele best.
We are following the official New York Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, preventative steps to reduce the risk of getting and spreading COVID-19 and any viral respiratory infections. This includes specified arrival times to limit too many people in the pantry at once. It means pantry personnel, volunteers and customers are wearing masks and gloves. It means washing hands often. It means cleaning and sanitizing everything more frequently It means maintaining proper social distance guidelines in the food lines.
We believe it’s especially important to take these safety measures because so many of our clientele are more susceptible to contracting the coronavirus.
Stronger. Brighter. Together. New York City.
