Through the foundations of the Girl Scouts, "girls transform their ideas into action, turn their questions into adventure and grow their confidence through practice.”

Recently, St Francis purchased 1,000 boxes of cookies from the Girl Scouts – specifically Madeline O’Connor and Sydney Barnes, the latter teaming up with her two cousins and fellow Girl Scouts Leah Alfred and Rachel DeSouza – who in turn spent a day helping distribute them at two different food pantries. (As a special surprise, the recipients of a week's worth of staple food were also treated to a box of Girl Scout cookies!)

Leah's mom, Ramona Alfred said "it’s important to us that our children understand service and the humility in giving back. We firmly believe that at the end of the day it’s all about sowing and reaping to impact the generations to come!"

And St Francis Food Pantries couldn't think of better volunteers to work with. Thank you to these special Girl Scouts and to the moms for doing a terrific job raising their daughters!

Cousins Leah Alfred, Rachel DeSouza and Sydney Barnes all helped bag groceries that included a surprise box of Girl Scout cookies. Does Leah Alfred have anymore room to fit another badge?

St Francis placed a large order of cookies that were picked up at the Girl Scouts. Madeline O'Connor, center, and her sister Meaghan took the time to hand out cookies at St Johns.

A cold and rainy April day - clients were surpised with a box of Girl Scout cookies. Madeline finds a creative display to thank everyone that has helped her.

This was Meaghan's first opportunity to help out at St Francis Food Pantries.
This was Madeline's first time as well.
The girls say good bye to another happy customer.
With so many smiles, the photographer thinks the girls may have had a sample box opened.
