Macy's Bag Hunger Campaign
More than 41 million people are affected by hunger in the United States, including 13 million children. That means one in every five children is not getting the food they need. That’s why Macy’s is committed to
Bag Hunger.
Originally, the program was started to stock pantry shelves - or "bag hunger" – in the spring so hungry kids would be able to get food when school meals aren't available during the summer months. It’s since evolved into a major fundraising campaign that helps power some of the most important programs at St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters.
But true to their roots, every Spring Macy's employees join forces with St. Francis to make PB&J sandwiches for our network of food pantries. This year, hundreds upon hundreds of Macy’s volunteers made more than 25,910 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which were then distributed throughout our network of over 40 food pantry and soup kitchen locations throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey.
We’re proud of the ongoing, enduring and results-oriented relationship we have with Macy’s…as well as their ongoing commitment and belief that "volunteering is always in fashion."
