Macy's Easter Baskets

Our friends from Macy's came together at St John's parish recently to prepare Easter dinner baskets for families in need. Filling baskets with food found on a traditional Easter celebration table – canned ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and more! – these baskets were then shipped out to multiple locations where families were able to pick up a meal for them to serve at Easter. In all, more than 200 Easter dinner baskets were prepared and distributed.

Sonia Diaz of the Carter Burden Senior Center in East Harlem, Manhattan (one of the locations that received Easter dinner baskets) had this to say: “Every year at Carter Burden Center we celebrate Family Day on Easter Sunday. The baskets came just on time for the celebration, and I can't tell you how much this mean to our seniors. They were so happy!”

In addition to the needy senior citizens at the Carter Burden Senior Center, the baskets were distributed to Lorraine Hansberry Academy students that live in shelters, foster kids, and low-income families.

Rather than hand out a bag of food - Macy's prepared baskets for Easter. St. Francis provided an Easter meal of food.

And Macy's volunteers filled the baskets with the food. Easter eggs were filled with candy for the sweet tooth.

Recipients of these Easter meals included young moms.
And the struggling elderly.
Thank you to Macy's volunteers for preparing 200 Easter meals.
