To kick off its 13th annual Global Volunteer Month in the US, Morgan Stanley wanted to make an effort to help fight summer hunger, especially among children – because one in six children in the U.S. may not know where they will get their next meal, 22 million children receive free or reduced-price meals through school…and 80% of these children will lose access to those meals when schools close for summer.

While many of the companies we work with to create mountains of PB+J sandwiches descend upon a St Francis location, Morgan Stanley filled their board rooms within their 50+ story building with volunteers and PB&J-making supplies…and ended up making 11,460 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches throughout the month of June. They partner with us to prepare and package PB+Js, which are then sent to several New York City-area food pantry locations that we provide with support.

After all was said and done, hundreds of volunteers donated their time to make a heck of a lot of sandwiches to help us feed those in need.

We cannot say thank you enough to Alison Stechler – Morgan Stanley’s volunteer coordinator for this PB&J-making effort – and the many employees who donated their time in the morning, afternoon and/or evening hours to give back to St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters and all of the families who depend on our support to make ends meet.

The month of June is Global Volunteer Month at Morgan Stanley. The network of St Francis Food Pantries and Shelters greatly benefits with this corporate partnership.
