On Wednesday, January 18th the MLB gave back in a special way as five professional baseball players partnered with St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters.
Starlin Castro,
Gleybor Torres,
Justus Sheffield,
Chance Adams and
Clint Frazier of the
New York Yankees (NYY) spent the afternoon volunteering at
Encore Community Services, a local Manhattan senior center that we provide with support.
The
NYY players spent the afternoon sharing in conversation, signing autographs and rolling up their sleeves to serve food with a smile. As if this wasn't great enough, the players even joined the lively seniors on the dance floor - where they were arguably given a run for their money! This day was a truly exciting one that featured food, friendship and fellowship. We are grateful to the players for taking time out of their Winter Warmup schedules to pay it forward and happy that we were able to make this connection happen!
