We hosted our annual “Thanksgiving in February” on Saturday, February 12, 2018 in the church hall at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan, NY. It’s a perfect time of year for this type of event because it comes at a time when monetary and in-kind donations slow down as people come off the holiday season feeling of giving. This event is a big help, as well as a reminder to our clients that they are not forgotten.

“Thanksgiving in February” was sponsored by our friends at Macy’s and ConEd, who collectively sent close to 50 volunteers who all helped serve food to about 500 people in need. Our guests mostly consisted of St. John’s Bread of Life Food Pantry and the Grandparents Advocacy Project. In addition to a delicious Thanksgiving-style meal of turkey with all the trimmings, each and every guest left with a giveaway – hygiene kits (donated by Colgate) for adults and plush toys (donated by Animal Adventure) for children.

It's wonderful to carry on the goodwill of the "season of giving" long after the holidays have come and gone. Thank you to all who contributed to making this day a success and memorable for these grateful families!
