Annual Winter Coat Drive

We all know that living and working in NYC is a challenge in the winter because of the unpredictable and usually harsh weather. But many people lack enough warm clothing to stay protected throughout winter and lack the money to buy that clothing.

This time of year, the clients of St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters rely on us for even more assistance. Grateful clients can breathe a little easier knowing that they have a warm coat and an extra layer of clothing to see them through the winter. Reverend Campbell at our Bronx food pantry said that when they receive these coats to hand out, the gratitude they see on the people's faces is almost “more than she can bear – it’s a blessing in itself!"

Children’s coats and jackets are always needed and appreciated, because kids are always growing and that means growing out of their clothing. For instance, all the coats they received at Rev Campbell's Bronx pantry were distributed – they actually didn't have enough for their clientele.

This is where our corporate partners and longtime supporters come in. Such as Warburg’s Mary Anne Fusco, who’s been hosting an annual coat drive with St. Francis for 17 years. To date, Mary Anne and her team have collected and distributed more than 15,000 coats, scarves and winter accessories to our many clients and their families.
