St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters - Doodle for Hunger XI

lead story

Food For Thought
The highly anticipated (and certainly well-deserved) warm weather months are finally upon us, along with a variety of community programs, activities and annual fundraising events.

To kick off its 13th annual Global Volunteer Month in the US, Morgan Stanley wanted to try to help fight summer hunger, especially among children. While many of the companies we work with to create mountains of PB+J sandwiches descend upon a St Francis location, Morgan Stanley filled their board rooms within their 50+ story building with volunteers and PB&J-making supplies…and ended up making 11,460 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches throughout the month of June.

St Francis Food Pantries sponsored a Mother’s Day luncheon for the Grandparent’s Advocacy Project. GAP is an extraordinary group of grandparents that support each other as they have found themselves in their “golden years" parenting young children again.

On Thursday, May 24, 2018, students from the Amber Charter School got to see a St Francis Food Pantries and Shelters-sponsored performance of "The Little Flower," a one-man-show starring Emmy Award-winning actor Tony Lo Bianco as the beloved Mayor of New York, Fiorello H. LaGuardia.

Colgate-Palmolive generously donated all the products teams of volunteers use to prepare personal care and hygiene kits for our clients who may not have the means to purchase these essential everyday items. These kits hold full-size products, including soap, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and get distributed out through the St Francis Pantries network in a variety of ways.

As we continue plans and preparations for another busy fall season of community events, fundraising and giving back, we invite you to connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Vimeo to stay updated on our work!
