An always-hectic and winter season filled with various events and extreme weather has us looking ahead to warm weather and a renewed sense of purpose in the coming months.
But let’s not forget about what we recently accomplished!
Our annual Winter Coat Drive saw thousands of winter coats and garments collected and distributed to the needy, thanks in no small part to the coat-collecting ongoing efforts of Warburg’s Mary Anne Fusco. We had an increase in the need for children’s coats this year, and we were thrilled to see the community respond in kind.
While our annual Toy Drive is always a success, we think we can do better…and we need your help! When we receive donations of toys to give out at our holiday parties, we know we’re bringing happiness to a family and our smallest clients. See how a toy drive at your place of business can make a difference in a child’s life.
It’s no secret that the upbeat mood of an informal and fun get-together is as nourishing for the soul as a warm meal is for the body. It’s also a great way to help our corporate partners reach as many people as possible. Never is this more evident than at the numerous holiday parties we put on throughout the season. There’s no way we could do it without the help of our sponsors, who this year included Amtrak, ConEdison, Chase, The Donaldson Organization, Macy's, The Meehan Group and Time Warner.
There are many different ways to raise money, but at St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, we like to put the “fun” back in fundraising. Our Texas Hold ‘Em & Casino Night, for instance, features a Las Vegas-inspired parlor with dice and cards, and a silent auction that includes some truly one-of-a-kind memorabilia. Our 2018 Texas Hold ‘Em & Casino Night guest of honor, CITCO Fund Services’ Claudia Bertolino, talks about what this event and St. Francis means to her.
