Food For Thought
While the new year is in full swing, and won’t be without its challenges, we’re also confident it will be filled with exciting new projects, milestones, partnerships and much more!

Last year, despite the pandemic and resulting economic turmoil – including the cancellation of all of our major annual fundraising events which saw our donations drop by more than 75% – we continued to make sure our impact could be felt throughout the community. While we ran our annual coat and diaper drives this past year, our focus was aimed at providing food and basic supplies to our clientele.

In fact, this past holiday season, St. Francis provided more food and groceries to our pantries than ever before!

Here are some of the events we helped organize in 2020:
  • Turkey Distribution. For this Thanksgiving season, we distributed 128,922.93 pounds worth of turkeys! The 9,200 turkeys to 61 locations in the NYC area.
  • Con Edison Employee Giving Program. Frances Resheske, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Con Edison, spearheaded an Employee Giving Program during the holiday season. The program started in mid-November and lasted until the end of the year. Together, Con Edison employees raised $25,200!
  • WABC Partnership to Support St. Francis. John Catsimatidis of Red Apple Group organized an all-day radiothon on his station, WABC, helped raise a significant amount of money for St. Francis Food Pantries.
  • Gristedes & D’Agostinos PinUp Program. This year, our turkey pinup program took place in 29 store locations. Under the leadership of Nancy D’Agostino and Denise McPadden, the store teams raised $66,476.
