Food For Thought
As winter begins to show signs of giving way to spring, it can be easy to forget how cold the winter months can be for those in need. With temperatures reaching well below freezing (and lower!) on most nights and winter storms wreaking havoc throughout greater NYC, the clients of St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters rely on us more than ever for essentials.

Many of the clients that we work with consist of families with small children. While they may not necessarily be "living on the street," their budget is very limited. Thus, when we receive donations of food, clothing or toys it is a welcome treat for us to be able to bring sustenance, comfort or happiness to both individuals and entire families. We are very grateful to all the individuals and companies who step up to host food drives, coat drives, toy drives and more, on our behalf. Whether they are longtime supporters, or are partnering with us for the first time, no donation goes unnoticed.

Our "Annual Dinner for the Needy" took place in late January and provided a warm meal to nearly 500 guests. On this winter afternoon, all were welcome to come and receive nourishment, meet others and know that they had the support of their community…as well as leaving with a winter coat or other cold weather gear to help get them through the remaining winter months.

While typically celebrated in November, the Thanksgiving spirit was in the air at our annual "Thanksgiving in February" celebration during the last weekend in February.

Monthly Ross Stores donations are something that we have come to depend on receiving and being able to pass on to our clients…and is a great example of how corporate partnerships truly work.

Our annual St. Patrick's Day Luncheon took place a "wee bit" before St. Patrick's Day and was sponsored by Macy's. Varying shades of green, traditional cuisine and expressions of sheer enjoyment were visible as far as the eye could see!

As we continue plans and preparations for another busy year of community events, fundraising and giving back, we invite you to connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Vimeo to stay updated on our work!
