We're beginning to see some encourgaging news and statistics about the COVID-19 pandemic, especially about the number of NYers who are getting vaccinated, and that has us optimistic about the near future, we recognize we still have a long way to go. In the meantime, we are continuing to fulfill our mission of providing for those in need.
For instance, our Pajama Program provides pajamas in varying sizes from infants to 14 years old. PJs may not seem that important, but being comfortable at night is the first step in getting a good night’s rest, which is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. With this donation we clothed over 300 children within our network of pantries.
Also, on two separate occasions in April, Jones Lang Lasalle employees had a volunteer event where they assembled over 500 hygiene kits. The event spearheaded by Michael Chionchio, who is our Theatre Event Honoree. The hygiene products consisted of toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and deodorant – all of which were donated to us by Colgate Palmolive. Special thanks to Christian Achenbach and James Reardon for helping coordinate the event. The newly assembled kits were distributed to Trinity Lutheran Pantry in Brooklyn.
