St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters held the The Third Annual "Texas Hold'em Tournament & Casino Night" on Thursday December 12, 2013 at the New York Marriott Marquis. Robert Gavin, Global Manager at Citco Technology was the Event Chair. The Guest of Honor was Walt "Clyde" Frazier, New York Knicks Hall of Fame Legend. Walt was presented the Francis Award for his commitment to helping the poor in our community. John Starks from the Knicks stopped by for a surprise visit and spent time with the guests. The New York Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums performed and opened the Tournament. The event was supported by over 200 guests who played in the Texas Hold'em Tournament and at other Casino table games. Tournament players were eliminated through the evening until only one table of 9 was left. The "Top 9 Tournament Players" continued to play to win great prize packages and trips. A Live Auction featured a signed jersey and basketball from Walt, a LeRoy Neiman serigraph titled "International Poker", and a special portrait by Peter Max for the winning bidder. This was another successful event that supported the mission of St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters, raising over $100,000 to provide food, clothing and counseling to the needy throughout the New York area.
